A temple on an island in Kagoshima, the East China Sea

Saioji is a temple located in a small village of 99 people now in the west side of an island in Kagoshima, the East China Sea.
Although it is a branch temple, we still perform the old-fashioned Hoonko (the most important memorial service of Jodo Shinshu).
This memorial service is performed only by Shinshu Honbyo (Higashi Honganji) and each branch temples in the mainland nowadays.
